part of the problem with lgbt culture journalism being almost entirely concentrated in two large liberal cities is that you get people who are very comfortably out and have vast networks of lgbt friends and associates completely forgetting what fear feels like and sincerely printing shit like, "it just doesn't seem plausible that this man would be closeted in the year 2019 given that he is white and rich" or "do gay teens really need love simon like it isn't doing anything groundbreaking" or "the biggest problem in my life as a queer woman is that my long sharp acrylic nails are frowned upon"
